I always had mixed feelings on Christmas songs.  I mean… Why such an effort to write stuff people will hear only 1/12 of his lifetime pretending being good? The answer is: Christmas songs are awesome! And they sound pure pop! Moreover is also true that capitalism is slowly extending Christmas to all the other months of the year and I know friends (and I’m not kiddin’!) with some Christmas Pop compilation always waiting in some place of their cars ready to show up out of the blue and play any time of the year. That’s why when I wrote my first Christmas song a couple of years ago I thought I would have never doubled that episode of my life… but not only it’s becoming an habit… this year you’ll find even THREE Tiny Christmas Songs!

The point was to try the Dickens way and deal with Past, Present and Future. So here you go… a special git for Christmast 2011! Artwork was made by the unbeatable Claire “Atta Girl” Goldthorp, who already worked on “Plato’s Summer Stars”. Ejoy

Drive

Drive

Have you seen the movie “Drive”? I was totally blown away by the picture and… the soundtrack! “Nightcall” by Kavinsky & LoveFoxxx was a killer pop hit in the opening scene and contributed to turn this movie into magic since its very first moments. And since that electro piece of ’80s dance nostalgia is – de facto – pure easy listening behind all those cold synths and vocoders… I tried to make an acoustic version for you! So here it is. Enjoy

Christmas Lima Bean

Alternative Present Christmast in Peru

Second Christmas Song made for my 2011 Present-Past-andFuture Xmas Project. The one dealing with my present. Or at least my “Aternative” one, the one that takes place in that part of a multiverse where I actually made it to spend my Christmas in Lima. I tried to work hard on vocals challenging myself even in a tiny Beach Boys tribute, but I hadn’t the time to go in a real studio and do things properly. So that’s what you got!

You will find the “Song of Christmas Future” and some other extra on the Christmas EP coming out 12 December 2011. Meanwhile… enjoy your “present” :)

Vintage Angel

Vintage Angel

I always had a strange relationship with Christmas Songs, equally divided between an unlimited love for some of the best pop tracks ever written and the magic that lay in them and the useless effort to write a song that people will listen for 1/12 of the year to put it back in some kind of fridge. There’s no smart “About a Boy” dialogue could change my mind. Still it’s a couple of years that I’m enjoying a lot writing this Christmas song, so this time I decided to make it… triple!

It’s my intention to release a Christmas Song Free EP on the second week of December. Three songs will deal with Christmas past, present and future plus the EP will have some Xmas extra.

However may seems absurd I’m recording so many stuff  these days that it happened I broke my second professional audio recording equipment. It’s money! So if you want to make a donation feel free to buy one of our EP on KinGem Records!

While you’re waiting I decided to release the first of these Christmas Songs. Clearly it’s the one dealing with Christmas Past. It’s called “Vintage Angel (Song Of Christmas Past)”. I tried to keep it as simple as possible trying to recreate a ’60s song, but then something went out on its own as usual.

Anyway… here you go:

It’s always good to meet special people. No matter which page of the book we’re involved in. Sometime we just have to keep on reading and a new impressive character comes out of the blue. This time it was Francesca Adamo, a very young photographer from Forlì I met on a very indie birthday party. The whole photo session was an excuse to gather some songs and compose new material to gather everything in a new EP, called “A Protest”. Find out more on lyrics and tracks…
